Who we are
Birthday Circle Media, based in Ireland, runs Birthday Ping. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. This means we decide how and why it is used.
Data we collect and why
- Account data (email address, password stored securely): to create and run your account. Legal basis: contract.
- Data you add (circle names, people's names, birth dates, interests): to show countdowns, send reminders and make gift ideas. Legal basis: contract.
- Subscription status (plan, renewal dates): to give you Pro features. Legal basis: contract.
- Technical data (IP address, device and browser details, logs): to keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and fix problems. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Support messages: to answer your questions. Legal basis: contract or legitimate interests.
Card and payment details are collected by Paddle, not by us.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that host our app and database, send emails, and power AI gift ideas. For gift ideas we send only the age and interests, not names.
- Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for selling the product, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing.
- Professional advisers such as lawyers and accountants.
- Authorities where the law requires it.
We never sell your data.
International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the EEA. Where that happens, we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses to protect it.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. After you delete your account, we delete or anonymise it within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep some records, such as tax records, for longer.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections, access controls and per-account data isolation.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or move your data, object to its use, and withdraw consent at any time. We will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
Cookies
We use only essential browser storage to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Paddle may set essential cookies during checkout.
Changes
We will post any updates here and change the date above.
